Our Approach

At Oasis Recovery, we advocate an Integral model that brings balance to client's who live in an imbalanced world. An Integral model is one that takes the most valuable perspectives from science, mindfulness, art, sociology/cultural anthropology, therapeutic approaches, and systems theory, and incorporates these in ways that are practical and deliver results.

We hold the awareness that through guiding an individual into their own power, through these valuable perspectives, we share experiences, discoveries, knowledge, and insights that provide a sufficient substitute of self-soothing to encourage connection to one's own guidance system. Through this approach, beliefs that don't serve are shed, new abilities to rise above a limited past are created, the present moment is accessed, and success is achieved.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy

Accept your reactions and be present

Choose a valued direction

Take action.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy is a Mindfulness-based therapy that helps an individual shed avoidant coping styles by overcoming negative thoughts and feelings. Through awareness of one's character traits and behaviors, one can learn new affirming statements and thoughts in the direction of acceptance, diffuse intense emotional experiences, and gain further power to choose their perception and self-talk.

This helps to create what is referred to as

"comprehensive distancing," essentially a re-working of verbal connections to thoughts and feelings. This type of therapy can be extremely helpful in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and many other psychological disorders along with minimizing the overwhelm of emotions, that often leads an addict to use drugs for relief.

HealthRhythms drumming

Drumming for healing has ancient roots in a wide variety of traditions, From the shamans of Mongolia to the Minianka healers of West Africa. This particular type of therapeutic drumming uses the art of drumming as a means of empowerment, nurturing, support, camaraderie, and mutual group respect.

As group members are led through a series of steps to facilitate communication and self expression, the power of the drum vibrations, movement, and communal connection merge to create and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Research has shown the effectiveness of using drums in this therapeutic way. Some of the benefits include: increase in healthy cellular activity, reduction in stress and burnout rates, improvement in mood, and enhanced creativity and bonding.

Experiential Therapy

Experiential Therapy is a way of reaching individual's who may not be in a position to freely talk or access through words alone, necessary information and insights to further their healing.

Through experiential therapy, mediums such as art, music, role playing, and other hands on activities, immerse clients in a way that may help them to move more deeply into a state of accessing their underlying issues.

Recovering addicts may feel less guarded during Experiential Therapy, enabling the therapist to be more accurate in their evaluations and guidance for them. Experiential therapy has also proven effective in treating co-occuring disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), eating disorders, and Post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD.)

The practice of observing and becoming aware of all elements of one’s present experience allows a new, less involved observer to emerge from an otherwise overwhelming personal experience.

Through mindfulness, one can increase compassion, decrease stress, decrease emotional reactivity, learn detachment, create more cognitive flexibility, and increase more effective authentic expression, free from the neural hijacking of psychological triggers.

“Mindfulness helps you go home to the present. And every time you go there and recognize a condition of happiness that you have, happiness comes.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
